Case study: Food and fuel for Palestinian refugees
'Warmth is good for the children. My mind feels at ease when I have fuel.’ Laila, a Palestinian refugee in Lebanon
‘Winter is a very difficult time,’ says Laila, a Palestinian refugee living in Lebanon. ‘You have nowhere to go from the cold.’
Laila and her family escaped the immediate danger of violent conflict but now, as refugees, they are struggling to earn enough money to make ends meet. And freezing cold winter weather is fast approaching.
‘I can’t afford food and fuel on the same day,’ says Laila. ‘We have to alternate and skip meals every other day.’
That’s why Laila reached out to CAFOD-funded local experts, Najdeh, who were able to provide the support she needed to keep her family safe and warm.
‘Najdeh helps out and gives us fuel,’ she says. ‘My mind feels at ease when I have fuel.’
