Case study: Life-saving medicine in Pakistan
"I am grateful to the doctors at CAFOD’s clinic because they saved my daughter’s life. I vividly remember carrying her in my arms into the clinic." Sultana, Pakistan
After the devasting flood in Pakistan, Sultana and her family lost their home. Water surrounded the village, and despite their hard work to protect their children, the stagnant water was filled with mosquitoes and Ayra, their daughter, got malaria.
She became so weak that Sultana had to carry her to a CAFOD-supported medical clinic. Sultana told us, ‘The doctor at the clinic prescribed a medication that she needed to take for three months, and she slowly became better and recovered her strength.’
The clinic provided life-saving free medicine to both Sultana’s daughter and her son. She told us: ‘My husband and I didn’t care about any possessions – we just wanted to keep our children safe.’
