Case study: Evan's bees help love grow
'An eye that sees a new world will bring back the good it has seen to its community' Evans, Kenya
Evans grew up in a Massai village in rural Kenya. He studied ICT at university, but he couldn’t stay away from his community. He was keen to return home. He wanted to help.
He told us: ‘An eye that sees a new world will bring back the good it has seen to its community.’
That’s when the local Village Savings and Loans Association, set up by CAFOD through local partners, helped Evans to buy a motorbike and kickstart a thriving beehive business.
He says, about his switch to bee farming: ‘When people come here, they comment that these are Maasais living here. How are they doing agriculture? People don’t believe we farm here. Organisations like Caritas came here and opened the minds of people, showing us the potential of what we can do and achieve.’

This gift is part of our Farming fund.
