The flood came in the middle of the night, and that’s when Meera began to give birth. As she battled through painful contractions, her husband fought through the water to take her to hospital.

The next day, Meera was discharged with her newborn baby. But when they returned home, everything was destroyed and the whole village was surrounded by water. That’s when they both fell ill.

Meera took herself and her baby to a free medical camp in her village, run by medical staff supported by CAFOD. There, they received essential postnatal care and medicines.
