Case Study: Heading for success
“I feel good, I am independent now. I do not depend on anybody for income to take care of my son and me.” Victoria, Liberia
Growing up in Liberia, opportunities were scarce for Victoria. Like many girls, she didn’t have the chance to finish her education because of limited family funds and she had few prospects for success.
With CAFOD’s support, Victoria received six months training in hairdressing and received a start-up kit with everything she needed to start up a small business of her own.
Now 23, Victoria earns enough money to take care of herself and her son, as well as saving up to return to college. Victoria is respected within her community and is now sharing her skills with other girls to help them face a brighter future too.
